The Status Quo
There is a huge need for high quality drivers across Middle East, which is currently largely being served by other nations. Currently, to receive a UAE driving license, an individual needs to complete mandatory training with theory and practical components, in line with regulatory policies. This is done once the individuals reaches the UAE and thus makes the process lengthy.
The Solution – Driver Training Institutes in India – NSDC, EDI, and Learnet Skills
It was proposed to deliver the mandatory driver training in India before the individuals leave India. This will enable them to only appear for the final road test in UAE to acquire a driving license at the earliest. NSDC has signed a partnership with Emirates Driving Institute (EDI) and Learnet Skills, to setup Driver Training Institutes (DTI) in India to deliver mandatory driver training programmes approved by the regulatory agencies of Govt. of UAE and other operating regions of EDI (UAE, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Morocco). This unique partnership will help to address the large need for high quality trained drivers in the UAE and across Middle East. Through this initiative, NSDC aim to position India as a hub for high quality skilled professionals. We signed an MOU in February 2022 with NSDC and EDI to impart Motorcycle Training Program (Emirates). The EDI team from Dubai is in India, imparting the training to our selected trainers and the pilot batch of 7 students at LIS Ajmer by Future Milez, Dubai, the employer for this batch. After completion they will move to Dubai for Phase 2 Training and Placements in Dubai.
CIE India Institute of Skills, Pune
Learnet has set up the “CIE India Institute of Skills” in Pune under project “Lakshya”, a CSR Initiative of Mahindra CIE in which it aims at skilling youth by training them in technical trades such as: 1) Hydraulic and Pneumatic – Fitter, 2) Industrial Welder, 3) CNC Operator – Turning. Along with the training, enrolled candidates take part in value-added modules such as Debates, Poster Making Competition, Ideological Day celebration, Kaizen Implementation, etc.
The Key Differentiator- Industry Support
Mahindra CIE has assigned voluntary mentors for each trade to guide and support the trainers to improve the quality of the training, take the formative assessments, organize guest lectures and industry visits, and On-The-Job Training, etc.
To get industry exposure and understand industry culture, candidates undergo 10 days of induction programme at a different plant of Mahindra CIE and at the Centre.
